Mermaid and Monster is a contemporary art agency based in Wales, UK. We represent emerging and established artists, promoting their work through curatorial projects, publications, events, and art fairs.
Artist Resource Cardiff is an independently run art network supporting exhibitions, galleries and artists in Cardiff.
g39 has always used its strength as Wales' foremost artist-run
space to be an invaluable resource to emerging artists. Through
exhibitions and informal mentoring it has supported a generation of
artists who now play a significant factor in defining the Welsh art
scene both nationally and internationally.
Through the new Wales Artist Resource Programme we are able to offer
a fully operational support network to artists at the beginning of
their career. Funded with the assistance of the Esmee Fairbairn
Foundation and the Arts Council of Wales, the scheme is aimed at
promoting professional practice across the visual arts in Wales.
Spread over three buildings the galleries vision is to bring a selection of established international artists to the Welsh capitol as well as provide a platform for emerging local artists to showcase their practice. As an alternate gallery space, tactileBOSCH is adaptable, almost chameleonic in its nature. The vast, naturally lit space transforms to adopt the character of each show and puts no parameters on the placement of the work, giving the artists the opportunity to exhibit and experiment in a way that is not always possible within a more traditional gallery or theatre structure. This ability to transform itself has resulted in a living, breathing environment, capable of producing a complex dialogue between artist, curator, gallery, location and audience.
* Short-term, impromptu events with an emphasis on ‘making do and getting by’ evolving into more frivolous pursuits. Playful banter is intended, acting as a starting point for artists and curators to form new conversations and collaborations.
